Mission Statement
To offer unique costumes which no other costume renting company in the area offers as well as person specific advice about could be a useful costume to wear.
History
Started in August of 2000 with one enquiry every couple of months, BKE Costume Rental has been created because of costumes that were required for a birthday party and a big costume party several weeks later. This resulted an attempt to rent out those costume for the rest of the time when they are not in use, as well as attempts at search engine optimisation to become known. Currently this business is still being operated from home, mostly outside of office hours (weekdays between 9AM and 5PM) and on weekends. The costumes are mostly imported from overseas, since most of them are licensed characters or not available locally (in South Africa). Unfortunately, the 40% customs fees make these expensive to import.
This home based company is slowly growing as more costumes get added regularly. Costumes have been rented out for product promotions and various events (corporate and charity events mostly). Costumes get added based on what is being commonly requested and what nobody else has got.
Current and future plans
- Expand and get more costumes based on popular requests.
- Get different size and more of the really popular costumes.
- Premises to have more space, but this causes other issues.
- Starting a move into an untapped market where there is big a local and international following.
- Have characters at more events on weekends.
- Upgrade and improve the website to make it more user friendly, more concise and more functional while mainting high standards.
